For meta quest 2, meta quest 3s and meta quest 3 - last updated january 2026

Important Safety Information

Please read these instructions in full before using a rented VR headset from IMMERSA. The use of Virtual Reality may cause physical discomfort in some individuals. As the rental provider, we are obliged to inform you of all relevant risks.

Minimum Age

Meta Quest headsets are not suitable for children under the age of 13.

Use by children under 13 is not recommended and is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian. Children aged 13 to 18 should only use VR under adult supervision and should limit sessions to short intervals.

Epilepsy and Photosensitivity

Please read this section carefully before using the headset.

In some individuals, certain visual stimuli — such as flashing lights, rapid image changes, or patterns — may trigger epileptic seizures, even in those with no prior diagnosis of epilepsy.

Do not use the headset if you:

  • suffer from or have previously suffered from epilepsy or photosensitive epilepsy
  • have experienced seizures, fainting, or loss of consciousness in the past
  • are consulting a doctor regarding symptoms that may indicate epilepsy

Stop using the headset immediately and seek medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms during or after VR use: convulsions, muscle spasms, eye twitching, loss of consciousness, disorientation, or involuntary movements.

Dizziness, Nausea, and Motion Sickness

VR experiences may trigger symptoms similar to motion sickness in sensitive individuals:

  • Dizziness or balance disturbances
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Disorientation
  • Sweating

Recommendations:

  • Begin with short sessions of 10–15 minutes
  • Take regular breaks (at least 10–15 minutes after each session)
  • Stop use immediately if symptoms occur
  • Wait at least 30 minutes after VR use before driving a vehicle or operating machinery

Pregnancy

The use of VR headsets during pregnancy is not recommended. Dizziness, nausea, and balance disturbances may be exacerbated by VR. If in doubt, please consult your doctor.

Heart Conditions and Other Health Restrictions

Individuals with the following conditions should seek medical advice before using VR:

  • Heart conditions or cardiac arrhythmias
  • High blood pressure
  • Mental health conditions (in particular anxiety disorders, panic attacks, or PTSD)
  • Disorders of the vestibular system (e.g. Meniere's disease, labyrinthitis)
  • Visual impairments that are not fully corrected

Eyes and Vision

  • The headset is designed for use with and without glasses (using the appropriate spacers)
  • If you have an existing visual impairment, the dioptre setting on the headset should be adjusted accordingly
  • Individuals with significantly different visual acuity in each eye may experience VR symptoms more strongly
  • If you experience persistent eye pain or blurred vision after use, please seek medical advice
